A short time later, three teenagers were under arrest, suspected to carrying dangerous weapons.
But York Regional Police force before long realized the weapons were air guns, not real firearms. The incident, described in a media release Tuesday, is i of several that police have responded to involving look-a-like guns and has prompted a news conference Midweek about their "serious threat to public safety."
"We'll be presenting some statistics at the press conference as well as about the number of these air rifles that take been seized in the last two years," Const. Andy Pattenden said.
The suspects in Newmarket, aged 14 and 15 years erstwhile, were reportedly co-operative and explained that their guns were air rifles. Merely the toys diameter an extreme resemblance to AR-15 set on rifles, a firearm used by the police section's own emergency response team, said the release.

"They look identical," said Const.
