Who Was Mary?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-24-hour interval Saints has a different view of Mary, the Mother of God, than does the Catholic Church. Latter-day Saints believe that nosotros existed before birth in a premortal, heavenly existence with Heavenly Father. In that realm, which Latter-twenty-four hour period Saints call the "beginning estate," there were noble and great spirits who had distinguished themselves. These were called and foreordained to specific callings to forward the work of the Lord during their earthly existence. The Lord testified to this truth to Abraham, as recorded in the Pearl of Great Price:

Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and peachy ones;
And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; one thousand wast chosen before one thousand wast built-in (Abraham iii:22–23) .
